Choosing a Garage Door Design can be complicated with all the different options to choose from. We hope to make this easier by explaining several of the basic options available. At Barton Overhead Door, we have separated our garage doors into several different design categories: wood garage doors, carriage house garage doors, traditional garage doors, modern garage doors, and custom printed garage doors. Each category has a distinct style that can be used to enhance the architecture and curb appeal of your house.
We recommend looking through our garage door product pages listed below and getting an idea of what each style looks like. The options below, such as long panel vs. short panel and insulation types, are available for most metal doors. The wood overlay and full wood garage doors have many more options allowing a truly custom design. We would love to explain the different options and help you find the perfect door for your home!
We also provide a software tool that allows a garage door to be “previewed” on your home! CHI’s Door Vision app can also help choose the best design of garage door for your house.

Placement of Glass
Glass Panels can be placed almost anywhere in the door. Traditionally, they take up the top panel and have some sort of design. More modern designs include the door pictured here, with glass only on one side. Other options include putting glass in the middle panels for taller doors and having two panels of glass for an elegant carriage house look.
